A Midsummer Night’s Dream - Act I, Scene I

Baron and Baroness van Dedem are keen supporters of React and kindly offered to host 'A Midsummer’s Night' on Saturday 21 June in the grounds of their home -Trumpeters House, which was formally Richmond Palace in Richmond.

It was an action packed evening; during the champagne reception the fabulous Cantanti Camarati Singers entertained guests, and the Richmond Drama School brilliantly performed scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream against the portico of Trumpeters House.

Sister Frances Dominica OBE, who founded the world’s first children’s hospice and is patron to React, attend the event and spoke very movingly about the importance of React's work.

Guests dined on a delicious feast of asparagus and salmon, followed by rack of lamb. After dinner guests enthusiastically participated in an Auction and Tudor Rose Draw, which raised over £20,000 for the work of React.

The evening ended with a demonstration of Elizabethan Dancing from the Renaissance Dance Group, and if anybody was still hungry there was a hog roast which had been cooking in the gardens outside the marquee all afternoon.

React would like to thank the Baron & Baroness and organising committee for their hard work. The event could not have taken place without their enthusiasm and dedication to help children living with a life shorting illness. Trumpeters House looked simply magical and was the perfect backdrop for the wonderful Midsummer's Night Evening.
